"Food is the ingredient that binds us together"
Philly loves Philly, a big tipper, some free stuff & more!
This week’s headlines were dominated by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's inaugurations and, subsequently, the Bernie memes. Social media managers everywhere were having a field day with it. While it was a nice distraction, some Philly food news might have slipped under the radar.
Philly Foodie Lovefest
Questlove is Philly’s most famous foodie, but he went out in a big way to show local vlogger JL Jupiter some serious social media love, going as far as to say JL is his new spirit animal. In the process, five cheesesteak joints benefitted from the exposure. Philly loves Philly. Well done, gents.
Big Tipper in West Chester!
Speaking of showing love, the servers at Bar Avalon in West Chester, PA were surprised with a big tip. One generous diner bestowed them with a $1,000 tip. These are the stories I like to hear. Hospitality workers are putting their lives on the line, and they deserve big tips. Thank you to whoever did this!
Free is for me!
Chef Jose Garces is sharing recipes online with a series of free cooking demonstration videos called Cooking Space. So far, he’s produced three videos featuring Fish Tacos & Elotes, Spicy Crab Pasta, and an exciting dish called Chawanmushi, lobster poached in a butter fondue served over a traditional Japanese kaiseki-style egg custard. Sounds scrumptious!
New Year, New You?
