“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
As COVID continues to dominate our lives, there are glimmers of hope.
Indoor Dining Returns
Whether you’re comfortable with it or not, indoor dining has returned in Philadelphia at 25% capacity with strict rules and guidelines. Restaurants are hoping customers will comply with the rules so that they can eventually open at 50% capacity. If you’re dining indoors, don’t be a schmuck; follow the rules! ABC6 has more.
Chorizo Comeback
I literally cried when I read this story about Raul Aguilar-Perez and his chorizo business. He nearly lost it all, including his life, but with a little help, things are looking up. The Inquirer has the dramatic story.
How Sweet It Is
Vegan sweet treats by Chef Christina Pirello of Christina Cooks on PBS can be found at Di Bruno Bros. Rittenhouse and Ardmore stores. I love how supportive Di Bruno Bros. is of local food purveyors. Now I have to try those little budino bundts!
Yuengling Goes West
Yuengling Brewery will now be sold in Texas. According to the press release, the expansion is part of a joint venture with the Molson Coors Beverage Company to increase Yuengling’s reach outside of its 22-state East Coast footprint. Most Philadelphians consider this a Philly beer, but I grew up outside of Pottsville, PA in Schuylkill County where it originated and the nearly 200-year-old brewery continues with 6th generation owners. I don’t drink a lot of beer these days, but I still have a bit of hometown pride when I hear good news from Yuengling.
Thanks for reading and see you next week. :)
